EIG Sub-Groups and Committees

General Management Committee (GMC)

The EIG is run by a General Management Committee, elected from its members, and presently chaired by Ian MacIntosh MBE. The GMC meets regularly to address both management issues (finances, membership etc) and issues of concern to members such as:-

• Proposed changes in legislation
• Incidents and accidents
• Preparing events for members
• Approving EIG documents
• Appointing Sub Group Chairmen (who must be members of the GMC)

Pyrotechnic Sub Group

Presently chaired by Dr Tom Smith, this group was formed to represent the special interests of the pyrotechnic members of EIG. Membership includes

• Martin Baker plc
• Leafielde Engineering
• Theatrical Pyrotechnics Limited
• Millennium Pyrotechnics Limited
• Quicksilver UK
• Black Cat Fireworks
• Cosmic Fireworks

Members are chosen to represent a wide range of pyrotechnic activities - this group is not a "Fireworks only" group, although firework topics dominate discussions

Transport Working Group

Presently chaired by Ron Rapley, and usually meeting at Huddersfield, this group addresses topics related to transport including

• DGSA approvals
• Classification
• UN and ADR receomndations

This group also is attended by members of HSE and DTLR

Explosives Industry Forum

This group, established between EIG and HSE, now attracts members from other industry bodies such as BPA and IEE
